Just Press Record is one of the best pure recorders on iPhone: one tap to record, transcription in 30+ languages, iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, for a one-time $6.99. If you want the recording turned into notes, a summary, action items and answers to your questions, Audio Notes AI is the better fit.

What Just Press Record does well

From its App Store listing (October 2026): one-tap recording from the Lock Screen, Control Center, Action Button, Siri or a widget; unlimited recording time; recording in the background and on Apple Watch; transcription in over 30 languages with synchronized highlighting; audio and text editing; and iCloud sync to all your Apple devices. It is a one-time purchase, $6.99 on the US App Store.

Where Audio Notes AI is different

• Notes, not just transcripts: every recording gets a summary and action items.
• Chat with the recording: ask "what did the client want changed?"
• Translation of the transcript into your language.
• 60+ languages with OpenAI's Whisper model, including Cantonese.
• Imports: WhatsApp and LINE voice messages via the share sheet, plus video files (mp4, mov).
• Encrypted sharing: AES-256 on your iPhone, links expire after 24 hours.

Honest limits: transcription runs on a server (internet needed), there are no speaker labels yet, recordings can be up to 90 minutes each, and it is iPhone only.
