Granola Alternative for iPhone: Audio Notes vs Granola (2026)

If your meetings happen on a laptop and you like typing a few notes that AI then fills in, Granola is excellent, and you probably do not need an alternative. If your important conversations happen away from the laptop, in a meeting room, a lecture hall, an interview, or a voice message, or in languages beyond English, Audio Notes AI is the better fit on iPhone. Here is the honest comparison.

What Granola does well

Granola is an AI notepad for meetings. It does not send a bot into your calls; it captures your device's audio and turns your rough notes into a structured write-up. As of October 2026 its pricing page lists apps for desktop, iOS, Android and Apple Watch, and three plans:

  • Basic (free): AI notes and chat, with 30 days of meeting history.
  • Business ($14 per user per month): unlimited history, advanced AI models, and integrations such as Notion, HubSpot and Zapier.
  • Enterprise ($35 per user per month): SSO, HIPAA compliance and admin controls.

The design centers on scheduled meetings and teams. That is its strength, and the reason some people look for something else.

Why people look for a Granola alternative

  • The 30-day history limit on the free plan. Notes from older meetings need a paid plan.
  • Recordings that are not meetings. Lectures, interviews, field notes, ideas you record on a walk, or a voice message someone sent you.
  • Languages. Granola lists multi-language support without naming every language; if you work in Cantonese, Arabic, Hindi or Vietnamese, you want a tool that states it clearly.
  • Per-seat pricing when you are one person, not a team.

Audio Notes AI: the iPhone-first alternative

Audio Notes AI is a voice recorder that writes your notes. Record on your iPhone (it keeps recording with the screen locked) or import a file, and you get a transcript from OpenAI's Whisper model in 60+ languages, a summary, action items, a chat to ask questions about the recording, and translation into your language. It imports audio and video files and WhatsApp or LINE voice messages through the share sheet. Shared notes are encrypted with AES-256 on your iPhone, and links expire after 24 hours.

What it does not do: it has no calendar integration, no Notion or CRM sync, and no speaker labels, and each recording can be up to 90 minutes. It is built for individuals who record on the phone, not for team meeting workflows.

Verdict

  • Stay with Granola if your work is back-to-back video calls and your team lives in Notion or HubSpot.
  • Choose Audio Notes AI if you record on your iPhone, work in several languages, or want notes from lectures, interviews and voice messages, not only meetings.
  • Use both: plenty of people keep a desktop meeting tool for calls and an iPhone recorder for everything else.
